Asmodee and Embracer share a natural and strong link in terms of strategy and culture. This agreement marks an evolutionary step in the strategy of Embracer and Asmodee and would give life to the largest european playgroup. Board games and video games are highly complementary and provide long-term appeal to global consumers.

This isn’t Embracer’s first acquisition in recent times. We talked about how it came into possession of Gearbox, 3D Realms and 4A Games, very important software companies in the world of video games in the past, responsible for titles such as Borderlands, Duke Nukem 3D and Metro Exodus. With the combined strengths of Embracer’s 8 existing operating groups (THQ Nordic, KochMedia, Coffee Stain, Amplifier, Saber Interactive, Deca, Gearbox Entertainment, Easybrain), Asmodee’s franchises have the potential to accelerate their expansion into the world of video games, while Embracer The Group’s franchises will benefit from Asmodee’s expertise in the publishing and distribution of board games.

The joining of forces and the anticipated collaboration between the groups would lead to a large-scale impact on intellectual property, distribution, technologies, game development and transmedia projects. The combined entities of Embracer Group and Asmodee would secure over 100 game development studios and over 500 IPs and owned brands, employing over 11,300 people in over 50 countries.
