Games for Android also on Windows 10 and Windows 11: Google Play support is coming soon

Google dropped a bombshell at The Game Awards, revealing that Google Play Games will be coming to Windows next year. At time of writing there doesn’t seem to be any collaboration between Big G and Microsoft or realities like BlueStacks, but the project tracked internally only by Google. In addition, games for Android will not only arrive on Windows 11, but also on the most popular Windows 10

Google will use one emulation technology other than Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA)which on Windows 11 will soon allow run various Android apps available through the Amazon Appstore. As for the novelty announced by the Big G, however, we will rely on proprietary emulation technology of which we do not know many details to date. He dove into TheVerge with a Google spokesperson Alex Garcia-Kummert.

Android games will soon be available on Windows 10 and Windows 11 too

Below is an excerpt from the interview:

“Starting in 2022, gamers will be able to experience their favorite Google Play games across multiple devices – seamlessly switching between phone, tablet, Chromebook and, soon, Windows PC. This product created by Google brings the best of Google Play games to more laptops and desktops, and we’re excited to expand our platform so gamers can enjoy their favorite Android games even more.

It will be a native Windows application distributed by Google, supporting Windows 10 and above. This will not work when streaming gameplay.”

Google’s approach could be very interesting, although it is only related to the game worldsince it will be a proprietary emulation technology, apparently with fewer restrictions than Microsoft’s native method presented in Windows 11. Among the few details announced by the company will be the possibility of switching from device to device. the other without losing progress in the different games, however to date we have no date on the release of the function: we only know that it will arrive by the end of next year.
