it already exists? What is the difference? – Dreamlabs

Technological advances reflect the growing need to always be connected to networks. Without the Internet what would we be? Well, for this it is necessary to look for increasingly coherent solutions and technologies, coverage, speed, better and more accessible devices. After the 4G phase, 5G technology is already taking its first steps in Brazil in the mobile Internet sector.

Today we are going to find out what is the difference between 5G and others, operators, connection, devices and what is the real impact for those who matter most: the user.

explaining

Promising a connection about ten times faster than 4G, 5G comes, in theory, to provide not only greater speed, but also greater application in the Internet of Things (IoT) service, lower connection latency, faster downloads.

Experience in Brazil

Still limited, 5G internet in Brazil is being tested. This is because it is still possible to access the promised signal with full potential only from a few mobile devices. As for the telephone operators, until September of this year only three were already in the phase of activation of the fifth generation signal. Furthermore, the coverage, at first, is only in some regions of some capitals of our country.

Signal sharing works from a feature called DSS (Dynamic Spectrum Sharing), or rather, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, which is the use of frequencies used by fourth generation networks, and are made by the cellular operators themselves. So, in essence, it means that the two technologies share the same frequencies in order to travel for the time being.

Practically

The bureaucratic measures of the 5G technology implementation process can be a hitch on the way to the problem. Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) is primarily responsible for the acceleration and settlement of disputes.

In February 2020 Anatel approved the notice for the conduct of the so-called “5G Auction”, to avoid signal interference, and which is now scheduled for 2021, thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Globe the notice provides that the auction will offer four frequency bands for the telephony and pay TV offer, which are:

  • 700MHz;
  • 2.3GHz;
  • 26GHz;
  • 3.5 GHz (more interesting for telephone companies).

bureaucracies

The Huawei brand was the first company to be able to implement 5G technology in its resources. On 15/10/2020, the president of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, in technical and legal matters, evaluates Huawei’s ban on the country’s 5G network. Therefore, with the justification in the data security threat, the relationship between the two countries and the 5G offering process in Brazil is still uncertain.

Huawei already dominates the Brazilian market with around 70,000 2G, 3G and 4G towers.

In addition, Claro – one of the largest holders of frequencies for mobile networks in Brazil – and Ericsson, in partnership, have promised to offer a new generation of network, with connections 12 times faster than our well-known 4G.

Vivo is also competing by anticipating and using the frequency bands already known from previous generations, with the use of the DSS.
