Josef Fares and Hazelight triumph at TGA 2021
Developed by Swedish Hazelight Studios and published by electronic arts – with the EA Originals label -, It Takes Two is an adventure game that offers a marked platform component and innovative game mechanics, borrowed from the most varied genres. It’s a specially designed blend of pure pleasure for two playersas the eccentric artistic director Josef Fares, author of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (2013), himself points out.
Just like in the first Hazelight title, A Way Out, you must work with your partner to overcome the many challenges in It Takes Two. There is no single player mode: the title can be played in cooperative mode, online or locally split screen.
Nominated in the Game of the Year category, It Takes Two he got the better of titles like Deathloop (Arkane Studios), Metroid dreads (Mercury Vapor), Psychonauts 2 (Double Fine), Ratchet & Clank (Insomniac Games) e Resident Evil Village. At the end of the TGA ceremony, Fares won the GOTY 2021 statuette: the prize was presented to him by Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog and creative director of The Last of Us: Part II.
However, the other candidates had their moments of glory. Deathloop, for example, was awarded in the categories Best game direction And Best Art Directionfor Best Director and Best Art Direction, respectively. Metroid Dread received the Best Adventure Game statuette (Best Action/Adventure), while Resident Evil Village actress Lady Dimitrescu Maggie Robertson caught the Better performance.
