Mercedes plays the electric off-road card, in honor of Virgil Abloh

Died last weekend Virgil Abloh, artistic director of Luis Vuitton, but also creator of street culture projects such as the Off-White brand. Personality of the fashion world who really liked dealing with many sectors and open to a thousand collaborations including, as we now discover, the one with mercedes.

Precisely Abloh cooperated with the division Maybachwhich deals with the creation of luxury and unique prototypes, such as the Maybach Project that the German house has decided to unveil, precisely in honor of the late artist.

Maybach Project

Daimler chief designer Gorden Wagener and Abloh have collaborated to create a vehicle that is inspired by grand touring cars, with a coupe touch, but is also ready for the off road. A journey into the world of luxury vehicle design, exploring future possibilities, also thanks to the electric platform(whose house has not revealed details), which allows us to start from scratch.

Maybach Project

At first glance, the vehicle looks like a large sedan, but the interior accommodates just two occupants, surrounded by styling that falls somewhere between vintage and futuristic living spacebut where the details that betray the soul of the project are evident: off-road.

From the outside, these details stand out even more, with the oversized tires and the eye-catching external roll bar, to which the additional headlights are also attached. The model will be exhibited until today at Rubell Museumwith exclusive access offered to design school students, who will be able to admire one of Virgil Abloh’s legacies up close.
