Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, a movie faithful to the video game?

In some statements released a few months ago, the director Johannes roberts had underlined the substantial differences between the new film and the saga with Milla Jovovich directed by Paul W. Anderson. The filmmaker said that Welcome to Raccoon City really has nothing to do with the others. It was about going back to video games and shaping a movie that is more of a horror than just an action movie. Roberts also announced that the video game remake Resident Evil 2 was his main source of inspiration, given that the idea behind the reboot was precisely to capture that kind of tense atmosphere seen in the video game released in 2019.

The director finally explained that in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City there will be no technological elements in the scenarios that will be the backdrop to the events of this film, a The city of the raccoon which will indeed be extremely similar to a ghost town forgotten by the rest of the world. In short, the idea seems to be to go back to the roots of horror, by first making a film with a good atmosphere and not non-stop action as we see in the series of films directed by Anderson.
