February 9, 2022 Sigma announced an event for the launch of some new products. Users will be able to follow the presentation through a direct of YouTube which will begin at 13:00 Italian. The duration will be limited to around 30 minutes during which we can see what the Japanese manufacturer intends to offer enthusiasts.
At the end of 2021, the company announced the new 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary dedicated to solutions with APS-C sensor for L-mount cameras (and therefore for Sigma, Leica, Panasonic) and Sony E. These days, rumors have already predicted that during the event on February 9, we will again see lenses dedicated to cameras APS-C photo, in particular Fujifilm X. A wish that comes true for users who use camera bodies from the Japanese manufacturer and who want to be able to have more choices for the optics to use.
What lenses will Sigma present on February 9, 2022
Sigma will present three new autofocus lenses dedicated to Fujifilm X. These are the first models with these features and a warm welcome for users. It concerns in particular the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary he was born in 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary which are already present in the manufacturer’s catalog but not with this stem.
As noted in the guide to lens abbreviations, the nomenclature “AD” means it is a solution for APS-C cameras while “DN” which are optics developed for mirrorless cameras. The Contemporary line, on the other hand, is the one that combines a good quality/price ratio and reduced dimensions that are therefore well suited to the relatively compact bodies of the Fujifilm X cameras. The fact that these are optics already in the catalog Sigma is one of the explanations for the brevity of the event. THE prices they should be in line with those of other bindings and therefore range from a low of $339 all the way up to $479.
Sigma thus joining other third-party brands in offering optics for Fujifilm X. For example, Samyang recently announced the new AF 12mm F2 X, the first model with autofocus for this brand while Tamron introduced the 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD zoom. We remind you that at the end of 2020 the same Sigma had declared the possibility of launching models for Fujifilm X equipped with autofocus, thus reversing the claims made in 2019. Also in the same presentation, the new 20mm f/2.0 for full frame cameras with L mount and Sony E should also be announced.
