As for the improved battery life of the new Surface Laptop Go, Microsoft says the goal was achieved through a unspecified feature of Windows 11. The company has also been unclear about the laptop’s efficiency benefits, or how much improvement the user can expect.
Surface Laptop Go December update improves battery life and stability
The firmware is available on laptops with Windows 10 May 2020 Update (2004) or later. It can be downloaded and installed via Windows Update, on the Settings screen, among the optional updates. More advanced users can download the standalone installer package (recognizable as SurfaceLaptopGo_Win10_18363_21.112.16896.0.msi) on the official Microsoft website. Surface Laptop Go is the first model in Microsoft’s series of laptops and 2-in-1s to receive firmware updates in December. It is likely that in the coming weeks other Surface devices will also receive specific news and improvements thanks to new firmware.
