Thanks to Oracle, Heathrow has achieved the biggest business transformation since its inception

Heathrow Airport is London’s main airport. It was founded 75 years ago and recently completed the biggest business transformation process since its founding, supported by Oracle and Capgemini Consulting. At the root of this transformation is the adoption of the Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications suite, which has modernized an infrastructure that is now 20 years old.

While the last 18 months have been difficult for the travel industry as a whole, it is crucial that we continue to innovate“, did he declare Cormac Watters, Executive Vice President of Applications, Oracle EMEA. “Heathrow has a culture of progress and innovation that has made it one of the industry leaders in Europe and globally, and with Oracle Cloud Applications it now has an integrated platform, powered by the latest emerging technologies, to meet its current and future needs.“.

Oracle Applications Driving Digital Transformation at Main London Airport

The process of modernizing the various functions of Heathrow Airport was led by Capgemini and Oracle Consulting, and concerned the main infrastructure functions: supply chain, finance, HR revenue, service and asset management. The project revolves around several applications from Oracle’s portfolio: Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), Oracle Integration Cloud And Oracle Billing Revenue Management (BRM), the latter integrated to support the system that handles airport billing with airlines.

Due to the health emergency, we had to fundamentally rethink the way we organize ourselves, make decisions and keep everyone connected remotely.“, has explained Stephane Williams, director of Heathrow’s transformation programme. “Our sector has been hit hard by the pandemic. We’ve had major business interruptions, loss of resources and, of course, a personal impact on so many colleagues; but through it all, we still had critical deadlines to meet. Everyone from the board of directors to the management team to the entire organization has joined forces for this program. Our pandemic schedule adjustments have made our operations twice as fast and efficient as before the health emergency began. We are now in an ideal position to take advantage of the capabilities and benefits that the new Oracle Cloud Platform can provide.“.
