Merwyn is determined to repeat the story of Solryth in ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’
One of the key characters in the prequel series is Merwyn, Princess of Xin’trea. Her brother had become the new king and she hoped to end the Thousand Years War and unite the kingdoms to save the elven race. But her sister Merwyn has another ideology that comes from the story of Solryth.
In the first episode of The Witcher: Origin of Blood, her brother enters her apartments and finds her reading an old book. She quickly deduces that she is reading the The Solryth Sagas. While her brother jokes about the smell of books, she explains that all the history books in her room tell the story that will repeat itself. She begins to tell the story of Solryth based on scriptures carved into the very walls of Xin’trea.
“A dwarven writing, fifteen hundred years old, telling of the coming of Solryth. The siege of their city before she drives them out and builds Xin’trea upon her ruins,” Merwyn of Solryth explained in The Witcher: Origin of Blood. The story of Solryth has prompted Merwyn to believe that he can restore the power of the Elves to its former glory.
Later in the first episode, Merwyn repairs a planetary alignment contraption. She exclaims that two comets shining in the sky are known as the Eye of Solryth. They lead his ship to the mainland. They return in the prequel series. After Merwyn becomes Empress, she reveals that Solryth’s death caused the elves to transform. But the question remains as to who Solryth is beyond The Witcher: Origin of Blood.
Solryth was a warrior but does not appear in the “The Witcher” universe.
Ref the witcher universe, the details were taken from the original books and video games by Andrzej Sapkowski. But when it comes to The Witcher: Origin of Blood, some of its stories and characters do not exist in the original work. The same goes for Solryth when he tries to find information about who he was.

In the The Witcher: Origin of Blood, Merwyn briefly describes who Solryth was and his place in the history of the elves. Creator Decal de Barra explains to Netflix Tudum that Solryth functions more as an inspiration for Merwyn instead of a character that needs to be fully explored.
Explaining Merwyn’s story, De Barra says: “Because she was shut up in this palace, with no real friends, she found solace in books. Merwyn loved the stories of the elves coming to the continent with that famous conqueror, Solryth. She was a female warrior who conquered the dwarves and conquered the continent and brought the art and culture of the high elves to the place. Merwyn would like to do it, but she is paralysed.
Fans won’t learn anything else about Solryth in The Witcher: Origin of Blood. The inclusion of the character is more about Merwyn’s big story drive of wanting to break free and become a marker for the elven race. Ultimately, Merwyn’s greatest desire is to conquer new worlds and civilize them with elven history.
Will Merwyn be able to become the Solryth of her time?
Merwyn conspired with Balor, Eredin, and the other monarchs’ war mages and generals to betray their chiefs and clans. In response, she Merwyn is Empress but she knows she is a pawn in Balor’s plan. At some point, she persuades Eredin to her side and imprisons Balor. But needing him to open the Monoliths to new worlds, she appeals to what she wants most.
Balor, Eredin and a group of soldiers pass through the gate, hoping to find a new viable world. But Balor betrays his Fenrik, gains Chaos magic, and sends Eredin and the soldiers to another plane. Eredin would become the beginning of the Wild Hunt the witcher universe.
Meanwhile, the Seven Warriors have infiltrated Xin’trea and Eile is after Merwyn to take revenge. Instead of a battle, Eile uses Merwyn’s hand holding her own blade to stab her. If Merwyn wants to die a coward, she will draw her blade and bleed to death.
He ventures into his throne room, grabs his broken crown and sits on his throne. When the Revolt of the Elves sets in, he says “Remember me,” removes the blade, and dies. In the The Witcher: Origin of BloodMerwyn does not become the Solryth of her time.
