Take control of household dirt with the Yeedi Vac Station, an all-in-one robotic vacuum cleaner that conveniently sweeps, washes and empties your garbage can.
Keeping your home clean can be a full-time job in and of itself, especially if you have children, pets, plants, or other people living with you. A robotic vacuum cleaner won’t solve all your cleaning problems in any way, but it can help you keep some of the clutter at bay.
Yeedi hit the market with its spin on a popular style of robotic vacuum cleaner – the set and forget type. It features a high-end robotic vacuum cleaner that automatically empties into a dustbin after each session.
Yeedi Vac Station – Configuration
The Yeedi Vac Station was shipped to us in a large box containing the self-draining power station, a Yeedi Vac Max vacuum cleaner and a small set of accessories, including a microfiber cloth, an additional vac station bag, a dust brush and a small screwdriver and spare screws.
After a quick unboxing process, installing the vacuum and companion station took only a few minutes.
First, you will need to connect the dust brush to the vacuum cleaner. Next, hook the top of the station to the charging base and plug it in, place the vacuum cleaner on top of it, then turn on the vacuum cleaner.
Connecting Yeedi to your home network is not very difficult and mirrors other smart home devices. You’ll need to download the Yeedi app, create an account, then authorize the vacuum to use your home network so you can communicate with it remotely.
The whole process took about three minutes, from start to finish.
It’s worth noting that the Yeedi line of vacuum cleaners is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, but isn’t compatible with HomeKit.
Yeedi Vac Station – The app
The Yeedi app is easy enough to navigate which is always welcome. Within the app, you can view the battery level of the vacuum cleaner, the cleaning progress and set automatic cleaning schedules.
Additionally, there is a section to see the “life” of individual parts before you need to clean and replace them.
Yeedi Vac Max
The Yeedi Vac Station comes with one of Yeedi’s pre-existing vacuum cleaners: the Yeedi Vac Max. It is a 13-inch wide and 3-inch high circular robotic vacuum cleaner that is reminiscent of other popular vacuum cleaners such as the Roomba series.
It boasts anti-collision sensors and anti-fall sensors to avoid marking walls or rolling downstairs. Additionally, a carpet detection sensor allows the robot to automatically increase suction when moving from hardwood or laminate floors to carpeted areas. It also helps prevent the robot from cleaning the carpeted areas.
The bottom features a series of sensors
It features up to 3000 pascals of suction power, which is 1000 Pa more than our current favorite Roborock S4.
A standard upright vacuum cleaner registers around 20,000 Pa. However, as we have said in the past, a robot vacuum cleaner is not meant to replace the regular vacuum cleaner and broom, but rather to reduce the amount needed to use them.
Like most smart vacuum cleaners, the first few times you run Yeedi they will take a lot longer than subsequent sessions. This is because the void will have to build a map of your home.
However, once the map is established, future cleanups will be significantly faster.
The map is also used to establish no-go zones, which is especially useful if you have a mess of wires that you don’t want your vacuum cleaner to walk on.
Yeedi Vac Station – Performance
We were pleasantly surprised at how well the Yeedi vacuum cleaner was when it swept both carpets and laminate floors. He had no problem making minor changes between different floor types.
However, if you have thresholds that exceed more than 0.75 inches, you may need to physically lift the robot onto it.
As for washing, it behaved as expected. Fill the tank, attach the cleaning pad, and the Yeedi will move around your home on its own in an effort to make your floors clean.
We loved that this vacuum cleaner is able to distinguish between hard floors and carpeted floors because that’s not always the case.
However, it is not a perfect solution for washing. To properly clean a floor, choose at least two: friction, cleaner and heat. Robotic mops, unfortunately, can’t do any of this.
When cleaning the old way, your best tool is elbow grease or, more precisely, friction. Humans do this by exerting a downward force on a rag, brush, cloth, etc.
Unfortunately, robots don’t really have this ability. Ideally, a robot would be heavy enough to push down and loosen anything attached to the floor, but that would make the robot impractical.
Also, the robot cannot heat the water, and thanks to the plastic tank, you shouldn’t even try to fill it with hot water.
The top of the vacuum cleaner lifts up, allowing access to the dustbin
Chemical cleaners also help a lot, as surfactants prevent hydrogen bonding and the low surface tension cleaning solution removes dirt and grime from the floor.
It’s okay, but Yeedi vacuum cleaner combinations can’t actually use chemical cleaners. The instruction booklet warns you to avoid the use of detergents as they could clog the tank.
However, there are some things you can do to make your robot more effective.
First, treat the floor areas with an all-purpose cleaner – we chose a solution of warm water, white vinegar and denatured alcohol. This helps loosen dirt and allows the mop cloth to remove them easily.
You can also apply a cleaner directly to the cleaning pad. But, of course, this can lead to any buildup on your floors, so we don’t recommend doing this every time you wash.
However, the best method is to start with a clean floor. Clean your floors the old way before you start using your Yeedi vacuum cleaner to keep them clean.
So if you wash your kitchen or bathroom a couple of times a week with Yeedi Max Vac, chances are you won’t have any dirt and grime buildup that will require a lot of effort to clean up. It is a win for everyone.
In short, if you start with a clean kitchen, the robotic mop will help keep it clean. As an added bonus, it doesn’t leave that nasty buildup that occurs if you use an easy rag like Swiffer.
Yeedi Vac Station
The most significant selling point of the Yeedi Vac Station is, of course, the vac station itself. Offers 30 days of hands-free cleaning by emptying the vacuum cleaner directly in the station.
This is easily our favorite feature because, as anyone who has owned a robotic vacuum cleaner can tell you, remembering to empty the trash every day is the only big downside.
Once the vacuum cleaner has completed a cleaning cycle, it automatically returns to the Vac Station to recharge. Once docked, the station will vacuum all dirt and debris from the bottom of the vacuum cleaner and deposit it in a disposable dust bag.
We do not recommend setting times for cleaning at night just because the Yeedi Vac Station is extraordinarily noisy when it empties the robot dust bin – try to avoid using it even during the baby nap.
Loudness aside, it’s very affordable indeed. Once the bag is full, remove it from the Vac Station and throw it away.
The downside is that with the Yeedi Vac Station, they only provide an additional bag with your purchase, meaning you only have about two months of sweeping before you need to purchase additional bags.
The 30-day period can change, of course, if you have multiple pets or a lot of rugs in the house. However, an 8-pack of dust bags for the Yeedi Vac Station costs $ 20 on Amazon, which is expected to last for more than six months.
When it comes to that, we were genuinely impressed with the Yeedi Vac Station. Not only has it done a great job cleaning our floors, but not having to worry about emptying the vacuum for an entire month essentially eliminates the most tedious part of owning a robot vacuum.
